JSI Tip 6803. Configure the Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Prefetcher.

In tip 4887, we disabled (and re-enabled) the pre-fetch to troubleshoot Windows and application start up issues.

The allowable values for the EnablePrefetcher Value Name, a REG_DWORD data type, at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters, are:

 

Data Value	M E A N I N G
0	Disabled.
1	Application launch pre-fetch.
2	Boot pre-fetch.
3	Both Application launch and Boot pre-fetch.

NOTE: You must restart your computer for these settings to take effect.
