Inprise Corporation, formerly known as Borland International, announced the latest version of their visual Object Pascal development environment, Delphi 4. Delphi 4 includes support for CORBA and COM, the leading distributed computing standards, as well as Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) and the Oracle 8 database server. Delphi is scheduled to be available next month in the following versions: Delphi 4 Client/Server Suite, Delphi 4 Professional and Delphi 4 Standard. The various editions of Delphi will be priced between $99 and $2500.

"Delphi 4 is the latest step in Inprise Corporation's strategy to help corporations worldwide develop, deploy, and manage distributed enterprise applications," said Zack Urlocker, Inprise's VP of marketing. "Delphi is the first rapid application development tool that improves the scalability and performance of COM and CORBA-based distributed applications."

In addition to supporting the latest Windows development technologies, Delphi 4 also includes a new debugger, language enhancements, and support for the Windows 98 common controls.
