BMC Acquires OpenNetwork

BMC Software announced that it has reach an agreement to acquire OpenNetwork, makers of Web application management and single sign-on technology. BMC said OpenNetwork's solutions allow the company to expand its browser-based authentication and authorization offerings, which compliment its existing offerings for workflow, audit and compliance, enterprise-enabled single sign-on, provisioning, and directory content management.

BMC will pay $18 million in cash for privately held OpenNetwork, which has more than 70 customers around the world. OpenNetwork said its solutions leverage Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS) to expand role-based provisioning to platforms such as RACF, AS/400, SAP R/3, Solaris and AIX that are otherwise not supported by MIIS.
