Docker Compatibility Between Windows and Linux

Q: If Docker is coming to Windows, does that mean applications deployed to Linux Docker containers will run on Windows?

A: No. Although Docker provides a certain level of isolation, the application within the container still runs on the underlying operating system, which means a Docker container created on Linux wouldn't run on Windows with Docker installed. Applications to be used on Windows with Docker would need to be created on Windows.
