JSI Tip 1423. Users can not use Works ClipArt or Spell Checker?

Users receive an error message because they do NOT have permission on the registry keys required.

Use Regedt32 to Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft

Use Security / Permissions to grant the user Full Control. Click OK.

Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools

Check Replace Permission On Existing Subkeys. Grant the user Full Control. Click OK.

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Works

Check Replace Permission On Existing Subkeys. Grant the user Full Control. Click OK.

Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Clipart Gallery

Check Replace Permission On Existing Subkeys. Grant the user Full Control. Click OK.

NOTE: Changing the above security does NOT cause any other security problems.

NOTE: If a user (NOT an Administrator) installs Works, the subject problems do NOT occur.
