JSI Tip 0656 - Task Manager won't end that hung process? Don't reboot!

If a program/process is hung waiting for input, Task Manager usually can't end it and your normal recourse is to reboot the computer. Try using Kill ( see tip 107 ). Use the Task Manager Process tab to identify the process ID (PID). At a command prompt, type:

Kill -f PID

You could also try to use Close from tip 431.

If the process was started by the scheduler, type:

AT HH:MM <path>\kill -f PID

Soon <path>\kill -f PID

You may also use the process name, instead of the PID, if it is unique.
