Microsoft will release three security patches on January 11. The company said that at least one is rated as critical, and some will require a system restart. As usual, no further information will be made available until the patches are released.
There's also a new footnote at the company's Security Bulletin Advance Notice site, which I suspect is due to the issue in December where a critical update was released for Windows Firewall, yet was not included in the company's monthly security bulletins which were issued a day after the critical update for Windows Firewall.
The footnote reads, "Security Bulletin Advance Notification may not be provided for bulletins released outside of the scheduled monthly release cycle."
