JSI Tip 2336. Removable Storage Manager refused the request to hibernate or suspend the system?

You receive the subject message when attempting to place your Windows 2000 in Hibernate, Suspend, or Standby mode, even if no applications are running.

The exact message is:

Removable Storage Manager refused the request to hibernate or suspend the system.

One or more applications have active connections open to this service. Close all applications that are using the service (including the "Removable Storage" MMC snapin) before attempting to hibernate or suspend the system.

If you used any Removable Storage Manager (RSM) clients, such as:

        Windows 2000 backup (NTBackup.exe)
        Removable Storage Manager MMC Snap-in
Disk Management MMC Snap-in (to eject removeable media)
within the past 10 minutes, either wait a few minutes before trying again or open a CMD prompt and type:

net stop "removable storage"

When you begin using your system, remember to type:

net start "removable storage"
