SCVMM SMB Storage Migration

Q: I'm trying to perform a storage migration using SCVMM to an SMB file share in a subfolder, but I'm receiving a permission denied message. Why?

A: When performing a storage migration using SCVMM to a registered file share, you need to select the root of the file share as the target. SCVMM will automatically create a subfolder with the name of the virtual machine (VM), so there's no need to specify a subfolder for the name of the VM. If you try to manually create a subfolder and then select the subfolder, you'll receive an error because of the permissions.
