Sony will overcome incompatibility concerns between its upcoming PlayStation 3 video game console and its previous-generation PlayStation 2 in a perfectly logical way: It will simply include PlayStation 2 hardware inside every PlayStation 3 console it sells. Doing so will let the company offer consumers compatibility with both PlayStation 2 and original PlayStation games, because the PlayStation 2 is backward-compatible with the original PlayStation. To save costs, Sony will eventually remove the PlayStation 2 hardware from the PlayStation 3 and use a software emulator instead.
