NEWS: New Search Engine Scours Hard Drive and Web

Microsoft, with Google in its crosshairs, recently took a step in its fight for search-engine supremacy. The company revealed its latest technology: a search engine that not only scours the Web for information, but also searches computer hard drives. The new tool recovers content from email messages and attachments, photos, and documents, and displays information found on the hard drive in a separate window from Web results. Microsoft has not set a release date for the new search tool, but we can surely keep an eye out for the new technology as Microsoft, Yahoo!, and Google contend for search engine and email users in the coming months
