When you use Windows 2000 setup to create a partition, you can NOT select the type of partition to create?
Windows 2000 setup determines the partition type based upon the existing partition table on the installation disk drive. Setup uses the following rules:
- If no partitions exist on the drive, a primary partition is created.
- If both a primary and extended partition exist, setup creates an additional primary partition.
- If there is only a primary partition, setup creates an extended partition, using all unallocated space on the volume, and then creates a logical drive with the size you specify.
You can alter this behavior by creating one or more partitions before you install, by using FDisk, and directing setup to use a partition you created or to create a new one.
