SOA, EDA, CQRS, ES, and Microservices: Decoding the Acronyms

Speaker: James Nugent This session explores the relationship between SOA, EDA, DDD, CQRS, and a whole host of other acronyms by looking at ways to implement them in order to break apart existing monolithic applications or to avoid big balls of mud in the first place. We'll start by dispelling some common myths about SOA, including its relationship to REST and other forms of web services. We'll then take a whistle-stop tour through messaging patterns, and we'll look at how you can put a UI on top of an application that you've broken into services. We'll look at when you should implement the domain model pattern, and in what scope, and we'll discuss event sourcing and CQRS and their relationship to SOA as a whole.
