If the following events are logged during directory replication:

Event ID 1188Source: MSExchange DSType: InformationCategory: ReplicationDescription:Internal event: The directory replication agent (DRA) received exception 1727 from a remote procedure call (RPC) connection to server SERVER1.Event ID 1083Source: MSExchangeDSType: WarningCategory: ReplicationDescription:Replication warning: The directory replication agent (DRA) couldn't synchronize naming context /o=Org/ou=Site with naming context on directory SERVER1.Event ID 1059Source: MSExchangeDSType: WarningCategory: ReplicationDescription:Internal error: The directory replication agent (DRA) call returned error 13.

your exchange server can't resolve the name of the server it is replicating to, via TCP/IP.

You need to troubleshoot the name resolution problem.

In the mean time, add a HOSTS entry to the Exchange Server to force resolution.

Use NOTEPAD to open the file in the WinntSystem32DriversEtc folder. enter the IP Address and Server Name (1.2.3.4 ServerName) and save the file.

NOTE: The HOSTS file is read every time a Winsock application resolves a host name. The #PRE is not used (unlike an LMHOSTS entry).
