Prior to SP4, RIP (Routing Information Protocol) was only supported on Windows NT Server.

RIP allows routers to share tables so that a client can use the best available route when servers were on different subnets.

Silent RIP is a passive mode that a router can use to listen for advertised routes without broadcasting it's own routes.

This implemnation of RIP requires that the routers be broadcasting with version 1 RIP.
