Daniel P. Dern is a Boston-based freelance technology writer. (He also writes science fiction, children's/YA fiction, humor, song parodies and general-interest stuff.) The founding editor of Internet World magazine and editor of Byte.com from 1998-2001, his articles have appeared everywhere from the Boston Globe, Byte.com and ComputerWorld to Earth911.com, GradCAD.com's blog, IEEE Spectrum and TechTarget. He's also an amateur photographer and very amateur magician.
