AOL rebuffs AT&T takeover bid

Something huge almost happened last week and it was kept pretty quiet until now: Apparently, telecommunications giant AT&T decided it wanted to swallow online services giant America Online (AOL) and launched a takeover bid a week ago. The bid was rebuffed by AOL, however, and today the online company's stock surged when the story was released. No details are yet available, and officials from AOL and AT&T still aren't commenting
