JSI Tip 3675. Regedt32 may save registry key to a remote computer?

When you use Regedt32, on Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000, to connect to a remote computer (Registry menu / Select Computer) and you Save Key from the remote computer, Regedt32 saves the key file on the remote computer, even if you select a path on the local disk?

If the path you select on the local computer is not valid on the remote computer, you receive:

Error
Registry Editor could not accomplish the requested operation.

This problem occurs because Regedt32 relates the path you selected to the remote computer.

To workaround this 'feature', use a UNC path. Enter \\YourComputer\Share\Folder\file in the File name box.
