On October 1, 2008, Microsoft released the new standalone Hyper-V Server 2008 product. Hyper-V Server 2008 is free download and it is intended to provide high performance hypervisor-based virtualization for businesses that haven’t moved to Windows Server 2008 yet. Hyper-V Server 2008 does not require Windows Server 2008 and it will support all of guest OSes as the version Hyper-V that’s included in Windows Server 2008.
