Denial of Service Against Windows 2000 Domain Controllers

DESCRIPTION

A Denial of Service (DoS) attack can be performed on any Windows 2000 Server that is a domain controller (DC). By sending invalid requests to a core service present on DCs, a malicious user can consume 100 percent of CPU resources.

VENDOR RESPONSE

Microsoft has released a security bulletin, MS01-011, and a patch to address the issue.
