Timbuktu Pro Denial of Service Reported Feburary 14, 2000 by Laurent LEVIER It is possible to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on the Timbuktu Pro software by playing on an error with the authentication protocol.
To cause the DoS condition, connect and disconnect on port
TCP/407 which causes TCP port 1417 to begin listening. Then connect on TCP port 1417 using
a telnet client and then disconnect without performing any action. This causes the
services to hang where a restart is required in order for the software to operate normally
again.
