Why can't I eject an NTFS-formatted ZIP disk?

A. An NTFS-formatted ZIP disk is lock mounted because NTFS is a fixed-disk file system. Because the disk is lock mounted, you can't eject it using the eject button on the ZIP drive. To eject the disk, log on as a member of the local Administrators group. Close all programs that might be accessing the ZIP disk, right-click the Iomega icon on the desktop or My Computer, and select Eject.

I've experienced problems using this approach with the newer Iomega drivers. The Eject option is grayed out, and the only way I've found to eject the ZIP disk is to reboot the machine or protect the disk using a password. The best option is to format the ZIP disk in FAT or FAT32 format, which doesn't have the eject problem.
