Q. I'm using Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2010, but when I look for recovery points none are shown, even though the DPM Administrator console shows protected content for my machine. What's wrong?

A. You must be a local administrator on your DPM client machine to be able to access recovery points using the DPM client applet. Additionally, the local administrator right must be explicit—your account must explicitly be a member of the local Administrators group on the client. You can't simply be a member of a group, such as Domain Admins, that is part of the local Administrators group. Once your account is listed in the Administrators group, you'll be able to view and recover from recovery points taken after your local Administrator status was set.
