The only reason I’m not using a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is that I’ve gotten too used to the 15-inch form factor of my current Ultrabook. But browsing around the ThinkPad web site this morning, I came across a nice infographic comparison of the X1 Carbon (and Touch) with Apple’s MacBook Air. And they do a nice job of differentiating.
Of course, the part of the market that these devices compete in isn’t exactly the bargain basement. The 13-inch version of the MacBook Air starts at $1200, while a higher-end version starts at $1400. Likewise, the 14-inch ThinkPad X1 Carbon starts at $1350, with the X1 Carbon Touch starting at $1500. (Lenovo devices are always on sale, however, so today, for example, you can get an X1 Carbon for as low as $1200. But the point remains: These are expensive, high-end devices.)
What’s interesting to me is that this infographic doesn’t even highlight those things that I think are the ThinkPad’s two biggest advantages: Its superior keyboard and that it run Windows. Still, a nice comparison…
