JSI Tip 8472. When you attempt to backup to a tape device, your computer BSODs with STOP 0x000000D1?

When you backup to a tape device that is attached a MegaRAID controller, your Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 computer Blue Screens with a STOP 0x000000D1 in Scsiport.sys.

This behavior will occur if the firmware for the MegaRAID controller overwrites data that is used by the miniport driver.

To fix the problem, contact your hardware vendor for an appropriate firmware update for the MegaRAID controller:
