JSI Tip 6142. Windows 2000 BSODs during an install or repair with 'STOP 0xC0000007B, bad image. The application or dll /??/C:/winnt/system32/sfcfiles.dll is not a valid windows image'?

When you attempt to install or repair Windows 2000, you receive the following BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death):

STOP 0xC0000007B, bad image. The application or dll /??/C:/winnt/system32/sfcfiles.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

If your CD-ROM is damaged, or the CD-ROM drive is failing, or the CD-ROM drive is NOT supported, you will experience this behavior.

To fix the problem:

- Make sure that the CD-ROM is clean and NOT scratched.

- If another CD-ROM drive is available, try using it.

- If the problem persists, replace your CD-ROM drive.
