JSI Tip 2483. Windows 2000 Disk Quota events take up to 1 hour to post?.

Disk Quota events are written to the event log every hour.

Disk Quota events are written to the event log (if enabled), using the logging option in Quota properties, if the partition uses the NTFS file system. To configure Disk Quota logging, open a drive's Properties and check the appropriate boxes on the Quota tab.

Logging occurs asynchronously after the NTFS driver scans the drive for quota violations.

To alter the one hour Disk Quota Notification Time, use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

On the Edit menu, Add Value name NtfsQuotaNotifyRate as a type REG_DWORD. Enter the time in seconds, using the Decimal Radix.
