How can I suppress Windows XP's Windows Tour prompt?

A. The first three times that a user logs on to XP, the OS displays the Windows Tour balloon prompt. To suppress this action for all users, perform the following steps:

  1. Start the registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets.
  3. Select the Tour registry key (if this key doesn't exist, go to Edit, New, Key and create the key).
  4. From the Edit menu, select New - DWORD value.
  5. Enter a name of RunCount, and press Enter.
  6. Double-click the new value, and set it to 0.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Close the registry editor.

To perform the same function for a particular user, perform the same steps, but in step 2 navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets.
