A. The first three times that a user logs on to XP, the OS displays the Windows Tour balloon prompt. To suppress this action for all users, perform the following steps:
- Start the registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets.
- Select the Tour registry key (if this key doesn't exist, go to Edit, New, Key and create the key).
- From the Edit menu, select New - DWORD value.
- Enter a name of RunCount, and press Enter.
- Double-click the new value, and set it to 0.
- Click OK.
- Close the registry editor.
To perform the same function for a particular user, perform the same steps, but in step 2 navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets.
