Digital TV Switch Due in 2009

On February 18, 2009, the United States will switch to all-digital TV broadcasts, forever shutting the door on the analog past. That deadline was finally finalized by the US Senate last week after several months of haggling by TV networks, which have been trying to push the date back since the digital TV switchover was first proposed. The change means that the small minority of US households that still receive TV signals via over-the-air antenna broadcasts will have to update their systems with a digital tuner in order to continue enjoying Matlock reruns
