According to Parks Associates' " Personal Area Connectivity Solutions: The Next Generation" report, the use of Ultra Wide Band (UWB) communications systems will grow in the next 5 years, exceeding 150 million devices by year-end 2008. The report says that uncertainties about the finalization of the IEEE 802.15.3a standard might slow the market at the outset. However, after the standard is in place, the PC industry will likely lead the way with large deployments of UWB-enabled PCs and peripheral interconnect solutions, followed by a mobile consumer electronics market with products such as digital cameras and music players, and the fixed consumer electronics segment, with products such as High-Definition Televisions (HDTVs), projectors, and audio/video (A/V) receivers.
