Advanced Micro Designs (AMD) will launch its K6 processor tomorrow, a chipthe company claims bests the Pentium Pro and Pentium II in performance. TheK6 ushers in a new era of Intel-compatible competition as previous releasesby AMD and Cyrix have been underwhelming. The initial K6 CPU will run at200 Mhz and fits in a standard Pentium motherboard while performing fasterthan comparable 200 Mhz Pentium Pro CPUs.
