How To: Configure Windows Hello in Windows 10

Q. How do I configure Windows Hello?

A. If you want Windows 10 to log you on automatically just when your computer sees you then you first need to ensure you have the required 3D depth camera. I cover this requirement at http://windowsitpro.com/windows-10/q-what-required-use-windows-hello-facial-recognition-logon-windows-10 and the good news is the Intel F200 now has a driver available to support Windows Hello at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25044/Intel-RealSense-Depth-Camera-Manager-DCM-. Once you have the required hardware and driver to actually setup Windows Hello is very easy.

  1. Access Settings

  2. Select Accounts

  3. Select Sign-in options

  4. Scroll down to the Windows Hello section and select Set up from the Face section

  5. Click Get started on the Windows Hello setup dialog

  6. Look at your camera while it captures the 3D view of your face

  7. Once complete you are all done. You can click the Improve recognition to perform more captures. Also you can configure if it should auto unlock as soon as you are seen and if turning your head is required. Now when the machine is locked you will see a small eye and text saying it is looking for you.
