Gurock Software, a provider of solutions for software development teams and QA departments, released TestRail 2.4 , the latest version of Gurock's web-based test management software. As described in Mike Riley's review of an earlier TestRail version , TestRail provides a scalable, web-based software testing environment that lets software development and testing teams track testing progress using an assortment of graphs and reports.

TestRail 2.4 comes with support for UI Scripts, time zones, full integration with the MantisBT bug-tracking tool, and other improvements. The new UI Scripts feature allows teams to customize TestRail's user interface using simple JavaScript code and style-sheet definitions. UI Scripts let development teams adjust TestRail to the needs of customers, by optimizing the application for custom workflows and building integrations with internal or external third-party tools.

TestRail 2.4 assists testing teams working across multiple time zones by letting team members use a different time zone setting in order to track test results, review comments, and run reports with their local time. Additionally, TestRail 2.4 includes a defect plug-in for MantisBT, which improves integration between TestRail and MantisBT so that as testers find issues, their TestRail reports can now be directly pushed to Mantis, and testers can look up the status of reported bugs without having to leave TestRail.

TestRail 2.4 also provides an improved dashboard view, which makes it easier to work with many projects simultaneously. Other enhancements facilitate using additional placeholders for custom defect tracker integrations and using links to local or shared files in TestRail's text fields.

TestRail is priced at $239 per user, with additional discounts available for multi-user packs. A free, fully functional trial of TestRail (either hosted or downloaded) and an extensive product tour are available on Gurock Software's website .
