When you connect an HD DVD drive or a Blu-ray Disc drive to Windows XP, My Computer and Windows Explorer does NOT display the drive icon or label properly.

This behavior occurs because Windows XP does not yet recognize these new drive types.

Since most HD DVD drives also support DVD functionality, the HD DVD drives normally display the DVD icon and label.Since many Blu-ray Disc drives don't support DVD functionality, and don't report other recognized functionality, it defaults to the CD drive icon and label.

NOTE: This behavior only effects how the icon and label are displayed in My Computer and Windows Explorer. You can still insert HD DVD or Blu-ray content in these drives.
