If your Windows XP computer is configured to Ask me what to do on the When I press the power button on my computer item of the Advanced tab in the Power Options Properties dialog, when you press the power button, you receive an access violation.

This behavior will occur if your computer has a custom GINA (Graphical Identification and Authentication) because Winlogon.exe relies on the standard Msgina.dll to handle ACPI power button events.

To workaround this behavior, DO NOT check Ask me what to do if you have a custom GINA.
