Microsoft has released a patch that fixes a bug in Internet Explorer 4 that undermines the IE security zone feature. Dubbed the "Dotless IP Address" vulnerability, this security problem allows a malicious hacker tomisrepresent the URL of a Web site, causing the site to be treated as it if were located in a less secure security zone.

Microsoft recommends that users download and install the patch thatfixes this problem as soon as possible. Windows 98 users can download itfrom Windows Update, but other IE 4.0 users should visit the MicrosoftSecurity Web site to get the patch
