Netscape will release a new version of its Communicator suite next weekthat is "95% compatible with Sun's Java Developer Kit (JDK) 1.1." PerhapsSun will sue them as well. Also expected next week is Netscape's newDirectory Server that supports LDAP and international character support.

"Communicator Beta 2" will support JavaBeans, the Abstract Windowing Toolkit (AWT), and the Java Network Framework from JDK 1.1. Netscapepromises full JDK 1.1 support by the time the final version ships in a fewmonths.

Directory Server will also ship by the end of the year and will be bundledwith the next version of SuiteSpot, code-named "Apollo."
