Windows Server 2012 Essentials Update Rollup 2

Another mini-service pack for Microsoft's small business server

Microsoft this week issued its second Update Rollup for Windows Server 2012 Essentials. Like the previous Update Rollup, UR2 is a collection of previously-released updates for Microsoft’s small business offering.

Microsoft issued Windows Server 2012 Essentials Update Rollup 1 in February. That release, while modest, did include a few small functional updates.

Update Rollup 2 is even less far-reaching, with just a single functional update: It adds support for the Port Bonjour feature of Mac connector to Windows Server 2012 Essentials.

UR2 does include a number of fixes for what Microsoft calls “major” issues, all of which appear to be related to installing the previous Update Rollup. These include:

Office 365 integration fix. Before this update, those who installed UR1 experienced Office 365 integration service crashes after the server rebooted.

Permissions issue. Before this update, those who installed update UR1 experienced a warning and operation failure when attempting to change the user access level or folder permissions in the User Properties dialog box.

Office 365 PowerShell failure. After installing UR1, enabling Office 365 with the Enable-O365Integration PowerShell cmdlet failed.

In short, nothing major by my count, but you should obviously install this update ASAP. Update Rollup 2 is available through Windows Update, and it appeared alongside other fixes this past Patch Tuesday.
