Thanks to Adam Thurgar for the tip: Microsoft has released a slightly newer version of its Service Pack 5 for SQL Server 6.5, dubbed Service Pack 5a (SP5a). The update fixes a problem in the previous service pack where stored procedures were somehow causing the SQL Server backup functionality to malfunction. If you're running SQL Server 6.5 SP5, you'll want to download one of the following updates, which are available from the Microsoft FTP site:
