Quick Tip: Extend Display Time for On Screen Notifications

Quick Tip: Extend Display Time for On Screen Notifications

Windows 10 has a very robust notification system that includes the Action Center and interactive notifications that allow you to directly interact with those notifications when they pop up on your screen.

By default notifications appear on your screen in the lower right hand corner right above the Action Center icon and remain on display for five seconds.

However, that amount of time can be adjusted but in Windows 10 that setting does not appear in the Personalization Settings where you would expect it to be available.

Step One: Open Windows Settings > Ease of Access > Other Options

Windows Settings for Ease of Access

Once you have this screen open look for the Show notifications for option and click the drop down options box.

Step Two: Select length of time to keep notifications on screen

Show Notifications Settings

When you look at the drop down menu you will see six options for the amount of time pop up notifications will remain on screen.

  • 5 seconds
  • 7 seconds
  • 15 seconds
  • 1 minute
  • 5 minutes

For me I use the 7 second option as that gives me plenty of time to notice the pop up and get over to interact with it as necessary.
