JSI Tip 9891. How do I disable the Windows and buttons drop-down list on the Appearance tab in Display Properties of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003?

To disable the Windows and buttons drop-down list:

1. Use the Group Policy Editor to navigate to User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Display\Desktop Themes.

2. Double-click the Prevent selection of windows and buttons styles policy and set it to Enabled.

If the policy is Not Configured, you can enable it via the registry:

REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /V NoVisualStyleChoice /T REG_DWORD /F /D 1
