JSI Tip 9779. All the Application event logs are unexpectedly deleted when you clear the MSDSS logs on a Windows Server?

When you clear the MSDSS (Microsoft Directory Synchronization Services) logs in Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003, all the Application event log entries are unexpectedly deleted.

This behavior is by design, as the MSDSS event log is just a filtered view of the Application event log.

NOTE: MSDSS, included with services for Novell NetWare 5.0, synchronizes Active Directory with Novel Directory Services and with NetWare 3.0 and later.
