JSI Tip 9413. You receive an error when you open a Mini Kernel Dump file that was generated by a 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP Professional?

When you open a Mini Kernel Dump file generated by a 64-bit version of Windows, you receive:

Loading Dump File File_Name
Mini Kernel Dump does not contain enough information to be debugged
Could not open dump file File_Name, HRESULT 0x80004005

This behavior will occur if you onfigured the memory dump option to generate a Small Memory Dump file.

To workaround this issue:

1. Start / Run / sysdm.cpl / OK.

2. Select the Advanced tab.

3. Press Settings under Startup and Recovery.

4. In the Debugging Information area, select either Kernel Memory Dump or Complete Memory Dump.

5. Press OK.
