JSI Tip 8985. When you use FTP to download a file to a Windows Server 2003 computer, it is slower than when you download the same file to a Windows 2000 computer?

The subject behavior occurs because the default data value of the TcpWindowSize Value Name in Windows Server 2003 is smaller than the default data value of the TcpWindowSize Value Name in Windows 2000.

To resolve this problem:

1. Open a CMD.EXE window.

2. Type the following command and press Enter:

reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters /V TcpWindowSize /T REG_DWORD /F /D 65535

3. Shutdown and restart Windows Server 2003.
