JSI Tip 8130. What are the volume sizes allowed for Windows Server 2003?

Using the default cluster size (allocation unit) of 4096 bytes (4 KB), an NTFS formatted volume can contain 16 terabytes.

If a data set that was to use an entire NTFS volume warranted a cluster size to 64 KB, you can create a 256 terabyte volume.

NOTE: A terabyte is roughly a trillion bytes (1024 gigabytes).
