JSI Tip 7512. Windows Server 2003 Group Policy settings do NOT apply to multihomed client computers?

If a client computer has more than one IP address (multihomed), Group Policy settings may not be applied.

To workaround this behavior, you can move the NIC that communicates with your network to the top of the binding order on the client computer, or you can modify the client registry:

1. Copy / Paste the following to a LmhostsTimeout.reg file:

REGEDIT4

\[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT\Parameters\]
"LmhostsTimeout"=dword:00000011

2. Merge the LmhostsTimeout.reg file with the clients registry, or run regedit /s LmhostsTimeout.reg on the client computer.

3. Restart the client computer.
