JSI Tip 6965. When you install Microsoft Project Central Server 2000 on Windows Server 2003, the Web site is NOT available?

When you try to connect to the logon page, you receive a message similar to:

Internal Error 500: The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.

In Windows Server 2003, the Enable Parent Paths option for the Microsoft Project Central virtual directory is turned off as part of the overall security enhancement.

To fix this behavior:

1. Right-click to the Microsoft Project Central folder in the IIS Management Console and press Properties.

2. Select the Virtual Directory tab.

3. Press Configuration.

4. Select the Options tab.

5. Check the Enable Parent Paths box.
