JSI Tip 6873. The 'Send Error Report' dialog box is NOT displayed in Windows Server 2003?

When a fatal program error occurs on Windows Server 2003, the Send Error Report dialog is NOT displayed. The program may just disappear of stop running.

When an administrator logs back on, the Send Error Report dialog appears.

NOTE: Programs like Microsoft Office XP and MSN Explorer, which have their own error handler, create their own error reporting dialog.

This is the default behavior of Windows Server 2003, since you are typically not logged on to the server console.

To alter this behavior:

1. Copy / Paste the following to a ForceQueueMode.reg file:

2. Merge the ForceQueueMode.reg file with your registry, or run regedit /s ForceQueueMode.reg.

3. Restart your server for this setting to take effect.

NOTE: You can make Windows XP behave like the Windows Server 2003 default by setting ForceQueueMode to 1.
