Yet another large-scale Java app bites the dust

Lotus will quietly kill its eSuite project, a collection of Java-based applications that was designed for a Network Computer (NC) market that never materialized. The project began development in 1997.

In the meantime, Lotus will realign itself along more logical product goals, such as "mainstream" messaging and other Internet-related applications. Components of eSuite may be folded into IBM's Websphere product line, while employees working on eSuite have been asked to look for jobs elsewhere in the company
