Windows CE expands to Intel x86, Digital StrongARM and PowerPC

As expected, Intel and Motorola will announce support for the Windows CE operating system within the week. In addition, Microsoft announced today that Windows CE will run on the Motorola PowerPC 821 and 823, low-power versions of the popular RISC CPU and on the Digital StrongARM. The StrongARM CPU is six times as fast as current Windows CE CPUs. Currently, CE support can be found on three chipsets: the 32-bit Hitachi SH-3, a Phillips 32-bit design, and an NEC 64-bit CPU.
